Genocide: A Century of Death
Project Reflection What I am most proud of my project for is the idea and perspective that I showed. Almost all of the people who looked at my project told me that my project was very eye-opening and they enjoyed the discussion, as well as the new information about either the Holocaust or what is going on today. Hearing after I had worked so hard on my project, that it was one of the most eye-opening and interesting to discuss made me extremely satisfied because of how often I was having breakdowns about things not working, or feeling like my project wasn't going to be what I wanted it to.
If I had another week to work on this project I would have made a path or map (or both) to help people understand where different projects were. I think that since I was in the back of the hallway toward the end, and the very last exhibition, separated from the rest, that not as many people came to see my exhibition that I would have liked. I worked very hard on a layout and design that would make sense, and often times people would enter the wrong direction, or not come over at all. Doing that I feel would have made it much easier to understand exactly what was going on and where.
I ran into problems often. About 90% of my project was just writing and formatting and printing. Since I had a lot of paper, and paper is very easy to rip or get paint on, most of my project had to be printed out over and over again. I ran into problems getting paint on text pieces, paper folding in weird ways when trying to attach it to something else, paper ripping, cutting the paper with straight lines, and every time I encountered one of these problems I had to reprint. I eventually came up with a way to cut things out with straight lines on a larger scale, and sticky velcro circles came to my rescue when attaching paper to foam board, so the stress and frustration was solved, but getting to a point where I had a solution was very frustrating.
The most important thing I got from this project was gaining a knowledge on what's going on in America from the differences between the far right factions, to immigration laws and what they mean. Politics and terms used to explain different groups in the US were always confusing to me, and they were never really taught either, so this project gave me an opportunity to get a better understanding of politics in America.
